Tax season is approaching once again, and it's important to be prepared. WithholdingCalc is a professional and ad-free tool that helps you estimate your paycheck deductions. Simply input your gross pay, pre-tax deductions such as insurance or retirement contributions, filing status, state, and withholding allowances from your W-4 form. This tool will then provide an accurate estimate of how much of your paycheck goes towards taxes and how much goes into your pocket. By using WithholdingCalc, you can optimize your monthly budget and ensure that you've set aside enough money for tax season.
If you're looking for a more advanced analysis of your tax situation, you can switch to the advanced view. This allows you to enter extra withholding amounts for both federal and state taxes, as well as separate filing statuses and withholding allowance amounts for your state. By doing so, you'll gain an even more precise understanding of your tax withholding. WithholdingCalc allows you to easily manipulate the numbers from your W-4 form, resulting in a comprehensive depiction of your budget and the amount of tax you'll be withholding for the year.
WithholdingCalc integrates current tax rates for most federal and state taxes in 2018. This includes tax rates for 41 states with income tax, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. As new tax rate changes are implemented, we will promptly update WithholdingCalc to reflect these adjustments.
WithholdingCalc utilizes an annualized method to compute most taxes across different jurisdictions. As a result, there may be slight discrepancies between the total tax withholding calculated by the tool and what your employer computes. Generally, these two numbers will align within a few cents. However, if you notice any significant discrepancies, please use our contact form to inform us so that we can further investigate.
We are currently implementing a range of updates to WithholdingCalc, including features such as the option to calculate your paycheck based on an hourly pay rate (with or without overtime), the inclusion of local taxes alongside state taxes, and more accurate options specifically designed for states like Arizona that use flat percentage withholding methods instead of withholding allowance amounts.
While the 2018 IRS tax brackets are not yet available, we will promptly add them to WithholdingCalc as soon as they are released.
It's important to note that WithholdingCalc is not endorsed by any taxing authority, including the Department of the Treasury or the Internal Revenue Service. We strive to provide accurate and useful information for your financial planning without asking you to overpay your taxes.
